I had the pleasure of attending the Independent Fashion Blogger conference this week, and I had several people ask me why my blog was called The Paisley Box. For anyone else who is curious, the blog originated as a way to jumpstart, shape and promote the retail business I eventually hope to launch called The Paisley Box. Why the Paisley Box? Well…(1) I thought it was cute and catchy and (2) Paisley invokes thoughts of wrapping paper and gifts. In case anyone was wondering why that is…

The paisley pattern was given its name in the 1800’s due to association with the weaving town of Paisley, Scotland. The design was commonly used to adorn royal insignias and crowns and sewn into luxurious textiles for weddings and other special occasions. It’s no wonder that the pattern eventually made its way into the wrapping paper industry.

So, there’s your history lesson for the day. You can file that away next to geometry under ‘things I learned but will never actually need.’ In honor of my namesake, I’ve selected my favorite paisley items of the moment. I’m seriously diggin’ the paisley charm bracelet. What’s your fav?

**Most of the fun facts about paisley were gathered from here. Read on, history buffs.
